Linear Amplifiers

Instruments Inc. proudly presents our renowned Linear Amplifier line, a collection of reliable Class-AB amplifiers with a proven track record. From compact benchtop units to expansive rack-mounted cabinets, these standardized amplifiers offer versatility in application. Delivering up to 6500 watts continuously and 16.5 kW pulsed, across a wide frequency band of up to 100 kHz, they maintain low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) even under full power. With their expansive bandwidth and exceptional performance, the Linear Amplifier line is the ideal choice for comprehensive in-lab testing across a diverse range of transducers.

Voltage and Current Sensors

Our voltage and current sensors mirror the electrical functionality of wideband potential transformers and shielded current transformers. They exhibit an impressive capacity to withstand common mode voltage of up to 1000 V at frequencies reaching 200 kHz, maintaining precise accuracies in both magnitude and phase. Ensuring precise phase information necessitates simultaneous sensing of voltage and current at a singular point. Positioned between the outputs of power amplifiers and loads, our Voltage and Current Transformers (VITs) feature single-ended outputs with a 50 ohm source resistance. These analog monitor voltages faithfully replicate the waveforms of the voltage and current under test, maintaining accurate proportions in magnitude and matched phase shifts between channels. Sustaining the validity of phase information requires careful matching of low-level output cables in length, termination, and characteristics. Monitor signals are conveniently accessible via an MS-type connector on the rear, as well as BNC connections on the front panel.

Integrated Switching Amplifiers

Instruments Inc.’s custom line of Class-D PWM Switching Amplifiers are suited for high-power applications where efficiency and high power-density are critical, with upwards of 100 kW potential in a single cabinet, and which also may be combined in integrated amplifier systems for higher power levels. Output frequencies range from 20 Hz to 160 kHz, depending on transformer limitations. These amplifiers are suitable for both shipboard sonar systems and land-based low frequency radio transmission. While many models are available in standardized packaging, we offer complete customization of power handling, output specifications, and ultimately, chassis configuration. Single-channel and multi-channel configurations are available, and our technical expertise and experience allows us to deliver low-distortion amplifiers that are ruggedized to withstand the harshest conditions, including shock resilience in accordance with MIL-S-901D.
